I have a large patchy birthmark, a bit darker than my skin colour and somewhat pink-toned, from just above my knee to my ankle, it looks kind of like a land map, a continent or something lol.
. It is flat and appears to be somewhat underneath the skin maybe, I'm a bit confused as of what type (coffee cream? port wine stain? salmon..whatever?) that it is. I have had it since birth (obv.) and I am told that it has faded somewhat as I have aged. Anyway, I am pretty self concious about it, which sucks because I love wearing shorts, skirts, bikinis, etc in the summer. I have in no way grown attatched to it, it's not a part of me or anything. I try to not let it bother me, but it really does. To get to the point - I want to get it removed. I have read around about laser surgery, and I want some details. Particularly, how much would it cost? Keeping in mind that though my birthmark is quite pale, it is very large and patchy. Is it better to get it at a younger or older age? (I'm in my teens, high school. Parents tell me to wait until I'm older. I'm guessing that means they don't want to pay for it..
