Probably fungal, fungus like dark, moist environments. You might try something like lotrimin cream, use it after showering but make sure to dry the skin thoroughly before applying. I think you have to apply it twice a day for several weeks. If you don't see improvement then see your MD. If it's a deep seated infection they may have to put you on an oral antifungal agent.
