Sensitive/Red/Wrinkles...Microdermabrasion? - Skin Problems Message Board

I don't have the best of skin tone. I've manage to mess it up over the years. Just last year I got sunburnt twice really bad. Once, I was working offshore and stayed with the sun beaming down on me all day long. The other time, I was doing roofing work and the sun beamed down on me all day long. I was so red and burning and sunbunt afterwards. It's been a year later and my skin still hasn't properly healed. I've got little wrinkles now on parts of my face, and my face is much more sensitive than the rest of my skin. So, if I try and get the slightest tan, my face will burn real easily. I'm really concerned about my overall complexion and am wondering if any of yall have ever tried those microdermabrasion kits you see advertised on tv? do they help? i am looking to smoothen up my face and get rid of the dry, dead layer. I am wondering if there are any negative side effects to the microdermabrasion?

For sunburn use aloe vera. The kind you get from a health store. Rub it all over the sunburned areas. Also for dry skin in general use a natural lotion. I used to hate using lotion because I could never find one that I liked. If it actually got rid of my dry skin that was good but it usually felt greasy which I hate. I now use a brand called nature's gate. I use the colloidal oatmeal kind. There are a ton of brands to choose from though. You can also try taking supplements like flax oil or vitamin E. These will help to keep your skin from drying out.

i've already used aloe vera. it helped a little when i got sunburnt badly, but that was a year ago. what i'm wondering is if microdermabrasion kits u see advertised on tv are any good? i'm thinking about trying one now to smoothen up my skin and try and get rid of the wrinkles that are starting to form.

I'm not sure if microdermabrasion is a good choice for sensitive skin. I've used them, but you can irritate your face badly if you're not careful. If your skin is remotely irritated, don't do microdermabrasion because I did it on slightly windburned skin once, and my skin was a red mess.

Have you tried any creams with retinol or peptides? They really do work, and some aren't very expensive.
