Moles near inner thigh....

I have two moles on my inner thigh close to my vagina. They don't bother me and have been there for over 10 years but I know I should get them checked. They are raised and I was wondering how would the doctor remove them. Would the dermatologist do that? And if I wanted a mole check, if that is what it is called, do I just call up my derm and ask for a mole check? Does that mean they will check every single one on my body? I have alot on my arms, flat moles, and was wondering if they could remove those also. Maybe not all of them but alot of them. Any help would be great!

Re: Moles near inner thigh....

Josie,
It is good to have a yearly skin exam from a dermatologist so, you should go see your derm and have him or her just give you good look. He or she will look at the ones you are most concerned about and than just eye ball the rest of your body for any others you may have missed. To remove the ones you want removed and the ones he thinks need to be removed for testing he will anesthetize the area and scoop/scrape it out. I think there are other methods of mole removal but, that is the method my dermatologist used. It isn't painful. Just kind of a weird feeling as the area is numb.

Anyway, like I said...it is always a good idea to see your derm once a year. And, the examination is quick. He or she won't look at each mole individually. Just the ones he or she has questions in his or her mind about. I have tons of moles. Probably millions of them. My doctor took two off in June or July last year and told me to keep an eye on 3 others for changes.

Go see your derm. Better safe than sorry and if you already know you want some moles removed, it is an easy procedure.

Take care and keep in touch!
