Angry Red vessels on nose

Hey, I'm 23 and have these red vessels on my nose.

I don't know the cause, but possibly stress? I don't know. Lately it seems like my nose throbs and the vessels are becoming more noticeable, and I am stressed out over everything.

My nose looks red in photos, but I can't see them that well just in the mirror - unless I look close up and can see little vessels on the sides of my nose. I don't know how well others can see them. I ask my mum, and she says not at all - but she would say that.

I want to get rid of them, but don't know how. I assume there is some laser surgery that can remove them? I am prepared to pay, as it makes me depressed and ruins my little confidence that I have.

If I get them removed, is there high chance they will just reappear? How soon? Does it hurt? Is it really expensive? Should I see a doctor, or where can I go?

Thanks anyone for any info.

Re: Red vessels on nose

I would say for you to see a dermatologist. I think what you are referring to is spider veins also named starbursts.
Laser removal is often the most effective treatment but again I am not sure exactly what you are referring to. You can do a search and check out the options for spider veins.

They can form anywhere on the body but seem to be more common on the face because of the sun. Sun damage brings them on. My laser treatment for one section of my face is $250- $300 but it's for discoloration. I have had other laser treatments done for wrinkles that are $300 for the eyes and $350 for the neck so really depends on how deep and broad the veins are on you.

They put a numbing creme on my neck I wish they would have done it for my eyes cause it burned but was not unbearable. Each pulse lasted for 8 seconds. I had about The first 3 were warm then the other 5 was like fire then another 3 sec of cooling. I had 3 passes on each eye. The whole thing took an hour for my eyes and about 40 minutes for my neck.

Each doctor might have a different charge so call around first make sure they are board certified.

Good Luck

Jenteal

Re: Red vessels on nose

Green,
I can't remember for sure but, I think they may be broken capallaries. I don't know what your nationality is but, my derm explained to me that some of my nationalities (I am a Heinz 57 of them) make me predisposed to broken capallaries. There are ways to prevent them but, if you are any portion of German, Irish, Scandanavian and a handful of other nationalaties, I am afraid that you were possibly predestined to have them. But, to help prevent further damage, stay away from things that heat your body up like hot tubs, saunas, hot drinks like coffee and tea, red wine, spicey foods and sunbathing.

My best suggestion would be to go see your derm because he or she can diagnose you better than anyone else. If it is due to your nationality, your derm can tell you why it happens and how to prevent it better than I can because, once I am told what is wrong with me, I tend to forget the major explanations and sort of look at the stuff that caused it. All I heard after my nationality as a reason was..."Bla bla bla...hot environments...stop enjoying your life."

I don't know if there are any ways to fix it or make them go away. I seem to remember hearing...there is nothing you can do about the ones that have already broken, just try not to break anymore. But, please see your doctor to be sure.

Take care and keep in touch!

Re: Red vessels on nose

Thanks for your replies

They are just such a pain. I use makeup to cover them, but other than these my skin is actually quite nice! And it is only on my nose.

I will see a doctor about them. I have had them slightly for a long time (10 years?), but they seem to be getting worse within the past couple of months.

I am Australian (Scottish/Irish). I don't think that anyone else in my family has them.

So stress wouldn't be any cause?? That is what I am worried about, because I am not good at dealing with stress.

How about, if I get the current ones lasered off, and then try and follow ways to prevent further ones, it is possible I will be ok forever?

I will have to start saving up for it. I wouldn't say insurance would cover it, as it is just cosmetic, really.

Thanks again for your help. I feel paranoid lately that people are looking, so I would love for them to be gone!

Re: Red vessels on nose

Scottish is another nationality with the potential for the broken blood vessel thing. I forgot that one. That is another of my many mutt like nationalities! Hehehe! And, it was one that the derm told me about.
