You can have flare ups with Rosacea but, it doesn't hurt. At least, mine doesn't hurt. Ways to keep it a little under control are to keep your body temperature regulated which is hard to do with exercise. Stay out of hot tubs and saunas. Keep the temp of your showers cooler. Meaning, not scalding hot if that is what you usually do. Try to stay away from red foods and sauces like pasta sauces, mexican sauces and red wine. As well as any spicey foods.
But, as far as the burning feeling goes, you may just need to moisturize your face out of the shower. I suggested this to another guy on this board and it worked well for him. Try some Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. Just a thin layer of it is a good moisturizer. Some people swear by it. Or, if there is a female in your household, try some of her face moisturizer. There are men's moisturizers too. You can find them in the shaving products section of the health and beauty aisle of any grocery store.
Definitely try a moisturizer for the burning feeling. It sounds like your skin is just dry and in need of some help there. And, if your face is dry, that could explain the redness. Get the dryness under control and the redness may vanish. My best suggestion if it is rosacea is to try to find a fragrance free moisturizer which is why I suggested the Vaseline. Some people have a sensitivity to fragrance in moisturizers and Vaseline is very gentle due to the lack of fragrance. Again, just use a thin layer as it can be greasy so, you don't need alot of it at all.
I don't know what fifth disease is so, I can't help you there. Sorry!
Anyway, give the moisturizer a shot and see if it helps.
