This is where I thought this topic fit best. I hope someone can help.
I've had really bad recurrent cracking - NOT cold sores or fever blisters - in the corners of my mouth the past few months. It's gotten SO bad in one corner that I've had bleeding & doesn't seem to want to heal. It just keeps getting worse. I've done chap stick, my fav lip balm (soft lips), and carmex (about a week now), and nothing seems to be working. Aside from the pain, it's EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING!!!
Anyone have any suggestions? They'd be MUCH appreciated!!
Could you be anaemic? do you have other symptoms eg tiredness, sore tongue, pica? Take a look at the anaemia board if you think you might be.
I had sore corners to the mounth when my haemoglobin levels dropped to 9.7
Just a thought - good luck with it
I have the same thing, and was told it was a vitamin deficiency or inability for my body to break down a vitamin by my dentist. Get some niacin and folic acid tablets (should be able to get them at wal-mart or your local pharmacy). Also, get some Vitamin E oil (the capsules work, but you have to stick them with a pin and squeeze the oil out). Wash your face every night with soap and water. If you put any creams on, be careful not to get them on the corners of your mouth. Then rub the vitamin e oil into the cracks. It may take a week or two, but it will get better.
I had the same problem. I had started using a whitening toothpaste that caused the problem. Try changing to an older formula like regular crest or something of the sort to see if that fixes your problem.
