Laser hair removal - Skin Problems Message Board

I took my boyfriend for a laser hair removal for his back.
He is pretty dark, and had already a pretty dark tan, the registered nurse who did the laser (Lightsheer) said that being tan didn't really matter with that kind of laser.

Anyway, she killed him. He got burns all over his back and now he got scabs all over his shoulders and I feel responsible for it.
He has a pretty good skin and I wouldn't want it to get ruined

Under the scabs there obviously was fresh white skin ... what should he do to get rid of the white spots? High suntan protectin will keep those areas white .... I was thinking of applying some self tanner to reduce the color difference so he doesnt look weird? I don't know .... I wanna fix the situation

I don't have any suggestions but, when I had my laser hair removal done, they told me not to have any exposure to sun about 4 weeks (I think) prior to my appointments so, I would seriously consider taking this up with the company that did your BF's removal. I would think that once the rest of his tan fades, there won't be any white spots. You might do the self-tanner and see if that works. But, if he continues on with the rest of his laser treatments, he should really stay out of the sun until the treatments are over. Or, use a really high SPF to prevent any further color changes.

You might also check with the Better Business Bureau to see if anyone has lodged any complaints against the company you went to. They are negligent for not warning your BF to stay out of the sun for a certain period of time before his appointment.

I am sorry that I can't give you any better ideas about how to treat him now.

yeah, I believe the self tanning solution wouldn't hurt ...
