Dead(?) Veins on Back
(Hope I posted this under the correct category!)
Almost a year ago, some reddish-purple lines a few inches in length appeared across my lower back. I didn't know exactly what they were or what caused them, and figured they'd go away with time, but they are still there, and since they first appeared a few more have popped up. The best way I can really describe them is horizontal vericose veins, only on my back rather than on the knees or legs.
They aren't painful or anything, but they really are displeasing and make me very uncomfortable to take my shirt off around others. I was wondering if anyone knew what they were and how I could possibly get rid of them, or at least make them fade somewhat. Would simply working out a lot (particularly the back muscles) help?
Just for some extra information, I am 19 years old and about 145 lbs. I'm not sure if there is any correlation here at all, but I realized that the day I first really noticed them was the day after I had had to sleep in a chair, sitting upright most of the night, at a friend's house.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
