Question Question about a raised mole on shoulder, near falling off..

My wife has a raised mole on her shoulder. Has been there for about 8-10 years. For a size comparison: it is similar to a tick that is attached to skin. Only a tiny bit fraction of skin is holding it in place. The holding connection used to be thicker, but it got thinner over time. The light skin colored mole turned darker, and brown. Recently since last week, it turned completely black, and shrunk in size.

Original size was a size of a small tick (comparison purposes) and now it is a bit smaller. It is painful to the touch, and has tiny bit of redness around it, not huge redness, though. As if there is a lint on her shoulder, if someone didn't know they can probably flick it off, which would cause her great pain, I am assuming...

She is not as worried as I am, and I tried to get her to see my doctor, who will not be available until 8/27.

I have read many places that moles do rub off and fall eventually, but I am very worried about her mole.

Any references, guidance would be appreciated.

In would suggest she get it checked as soon as she can. Change in a mole is always cause for concern. I have not really heard a lot about moles getting smaller - but whatever the case, it is CHANGE. Definitely she should get it checked.

Wishing you and your wife the best.

I was hoping it is one of those moles that would just fall off one day and heal.

Unless it is actually a skin tag and NOT a mole.

Skin tags are nothing to really worry about - but are not really pigmented...

I have a mole on my back, it has been there ever since I was very young. It sometimes is looser than other times, but it has done no harm. I wouldn't worry.
