| Papular rash in 5yo
In May, my ds began having an itchy papular rash. At first, we thought it might be poison ivy. Dh was sure of it. It went away once or twice only to recur adding additional body parts. Eventually, it stopped going away, but we kept adding body parts. The first time I took him to the dr, he recv the diagnosis of Gianotti Crosti. It eventually moved to his face. At the point where he had it on both cheeks, fronts and backs of knees, elbows, and both sides of his buttocks, he saw the peds once or twice more and a second diagnosis with aclovate that didn't help, Then we were referred to the derm in Aug. Derm said it was either GC or eczema. We began treating as if it was eczema and it did resolve. We had one recurrence and at our 1 mo check with the derm, all seemed well. We were giving baths, using Vanicream, and Mometasone.
Presently, we continue to have outbreaks. I am still spot treating with mometasone. I will get one area under control and then another area starts in. Areas which have now broken out in addition to the above are chest, back, neck, fingers, and feet. I have bought new sheets and changed detergents, but none of this seems to have any effect. He has asthma and also multiple food allergies so many things people suggest in the dietary realm are either already being avoided or he cannot have.
Here are my questions.....
1) Is there indeed a form of papular eczema that effects the entire body? Everything I have found only talks about papules on the hands or the "itch that rashes." None one I seem to run into has this varient. Can anyone give me info in this regard?
2) I am concerned about the long-term use of the mometasone. The label states only to use for 2-3 wks. Our problem is that I get one spot treated and a new one pops up and then another..... So if I treat them all until they are gone, it is going beyond the 2-3 wks. I called the drs office and they do not seem to have a problem with this.
My other problem is that this dermatologist does not listen well. He does not wait for me to finish my questions or he jumps in and assumes that he knows what I am asking. I have had to deal with a number of drs through the years and I have never had one who doesn't seem to have time to listen like this one. In addition, he recommended products that contained things that my ds is allergic to. This is why I am here asking.
