stitches and surgi strips

I had a mole removed last week from my nose. The PS put those surgi strips on the wound, but it is now pretty loose and coming off. Do you think it would be ok to remove it and place some of that adhesive cloth tape cut to size on it instead? He told me to leave it alone and it should stay on, but its coming loose. Help!
