Red, aching spots after sleeping

Hey... This isn't a problem as such, but more a question of curiosity.

Sometimes when I sleep, I wake up with an annoyingly aching pain on my side hip. I'm guessing it could be because I slept on the side too much.

But I wake up, check it out, and see this large red spot, as if it's a small burn. It's also quite warmer than the rest of the skin.

It's just weird. But I don't know why it happens. Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks!
