Recently (as in starting about 3 months ago) my left elbow becomes itchy and bumps form on it. It looks like poison ivy (best way to describe it) although it is not weepy and I have not been in contact with anything like poison ivy. It seems to be soothed by soaking in epson salt, however I cannot figure out the origin of the "rash" (for lack of knowing what it is). It lasts a couple days to a couple weeks. I have not changed any detergents, and it is just my elbow affected (on occassion the right one will get the same way, but not near the degree). Any thoughts? Thanks!
What you are describing sounds exactly like what I get from time to time. My elbows also get dry red itchy and bumpy, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with contact dermatitis. Simply put, when I rested my elbows on something, my knees, desk, floor, whatever, something irritated my skin. I was given a prescription for some hydrocortisone cream and sent on my way. The cream worked wonders and it cleared up in a few days! You may want to try an over the counter variety, just apply 2-3 times a day until cleared up. Of course It is always best to ask a doctor about your elbows, if you can. I hope this helps.
