Question about treating Acanthosis Nigricans (dark skin patches) - Skin Problems Message Board

Like others here, I do not have diabetes or even pre-diabetes (I just recent had 2 fasting glucose tests done, both were mid-90s) but I have noticed a patch around my neck get darker in the last few months. I decided to look all over closely, and to my dismay I noticed it in lesser degrees in my armpits, groin area, and elbow creases.

Researching it, it's obviously acanthosis nigricans, and given that I'm overweight and have consumed a ton of sugar in recent years, it's not surprising that I am becoming insulin resistant. I have seen people mention that with proper diet (ie, a significant lowering of sugar and starches) the darkness will likely fade away, which is great- but what about the difference in skin texture? Does that have any hope of going back to 'normal'? I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.

same here, im not diabetic, but im kinda overweight, so i guess thats our problem, in going through a diet now to lose weight and also using a good whitening cream at night, and also i put lemon juice on those areas once a day, i hear that not only it helps in whitening the skin but also with continoues use it helps tighten and improve skin texture,i hope that this problem will be solved in a couple of monthes, i dont think the color and texture will go back to normal, but it'll improve, ill keep you updated to what happened with me..
