Help!!!!! - Skin Problems Message Board

I have psoriasis over aprox. 50% of my body. My doctor has prescibed creams and none of them seem to work. It just keeps spreading. I've been tanning as I have an extreme sensitivity to the heat and cannot sit in the sun. It seems to help, takes out the itch and makes the spots flake. I just went to a dermatologist and she wants to put me on immune suppresants and major vitamin d creams. I don't like the sounds of that! The weird thing about my psoriasis is that it isn't in large areas, it's very splotchy and litteraly ALL over my body. I was also told that the form I have was aggravated by having strep throat and that it will flare up everytime I get sick. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm tired of scratching and bleeding and having people look at me like I'm diseased. At this point, I'm willing to try anything! If anyone has any kind of suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

I feel for you.
You must have a lot of courage to be able to deal with that. I have a friend that is in much the same predicament. He literally has it over his whole body. He leaves piles of skin everywhere. He manages to control it with UVB therapy. He has to go for treatment two to three times a week. He has tried some of the drugs and had little success.
I find it amazing that their are medical miracles and new high tech methods of performing operations that years ago would have been inconceivable but nothing in the field of dermatology ever seems to happen. I believe they will be doing brain transplants before they come up with any realistic control of any skin conditions.
I certainly don't worry about looks, or what people think but the pain and relentless itching can be unbearable.
We seem to be in the minority and because it's not life threatening no body cares.

Thank you. I'm to the point that I just can't stand it anymore. I leave skin everywhere too and it's embarassing. My psoriasis isn't the normal kind though, it's called guttate psoriasis. It almost looks like it rained all over me. I just don't know what to do anymore.....

I think I read something about a new IV treatment for it? Maybe? My mom suffers from it...so I read about it at times.
