Unhappy do staph infections EVER REALLY GO AWAY?

I was diagnosed with a staph infection all around my mouth a little less than a year ago. I was given antibiotics, medicines, etc., and it healed and seemed to have gone away for awhile with minor little spurts now and then that I have healed with leftover creams. Now my similar symptoms have flared up again, and I am just so staph infections EVER really heal?! Or will I be dealing with this for the rest of my life?????
