I am happy to share my experience: I was originally placed on hydroxcholoquine for lupus. This is the generic which is very different from the brand name of plaquenil..
my intense itching stopped when I asked for plaquenil..I had read some where that the generic can cause intense itching and true it was for me my relief..If your insurance company gives you a hard time this is a medication reaction to the generic form. So you need the brand name. Good luck..pinkpurse
