HELP! What Happened to My Face? - Skin Problems Message Board

This is new for me. In late February I tried a new "anti-wrinkle cream" (L'Oreal Revitalift) and the next day I was outside in the sun for about 20 minutes without sunscreen.
My face has never been the same!!! (I only used the cream once and not since.)

I have red "dots" ( look like scars or red freckles)
I have big "blister" things-- they seem to be coming from deeper in my skin, not on the surface.
I have small "pimple" things that are like whiteheads.
It's mainly on one side of my face + my chin with a few down my neck

I'm very fair skinned, don't take medication, and never try to tan.
The only thing I can think of is possibly a "sun allergy"-- though I use 30SPF sunscreen, I recently got a dog and walk her about 40 minutes a day. (It's only on my face-- which leads me to believe it isn't a food allergy.)

Could the sun exposure be causing this problem with my face???
Anti-acne creams don't make any difference.
Hydracortisone feels nice but doesn't seem to heal it.

Any ideas on the cause or possible treatment?
Has anyone experienced a sun-reaction?
Could that be it?

I'm so glad I found your post. I have been experiencing something very similar. My face started with one spot in the middle of my chin. I thought it was a pimple! It had a hard area underneath about the size of a dime. Then, about two days later, I started to break out on cheeks, around mouth, forehead and neck. It would start out itching a little, then I'd get a red area about the size of a dime, then it would become raised and then would get the whithead you referred to. Also, my cheeks were red and felt hot. It got so bad my cheeks were almost purple and that's when I made a doctor's appt. I saw the doctor two days later, she didn't know what it was, gave me 10 days of Prednisone (steroid) and said to take Benadryl. Have finished the meds and am still breaking out, although the oldest areas look better. Here's the kicker: previous to all this, I used the same product you did (deep-set wrinkle repair night creme version) for five nights prior to the outbreak. I have suspicioned this product all along. It had a heavy flowery scent and I thought it might have been the fragrance. It does say dermatologist tested for gentleness on the package, that's why I thought it would be OK. I keep wondering when this will end. It's been going on now for about 3 weeks. I'm 63 years old and I just wanted to smooth my wrinkles!
