Caffeine & Skin Problems

I"ve been having skin problems on my face for the past month. The skin on my face has been very irritated with small bumps and red patches. Went to the doctor and was prescribed antibotics and cream about 2 weeks ago. I've seen some improvement but not as much as I would like. I was thinking about what I've been doing differently recently that may have caused the problem. I'm a man and I've been working out pretty intensly to lose weight and I've been taking a highly caffenated drink (200mg) to help me through the workouts, about 4 times a week. It seems like the problem with my skin started a couple of weeks after I started these drinks. I was reading the warning label and it did state it may cause skin problems. I've been doing to research on the net and found a lot of info regarding caffeine causing skin problems such as acne. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm going to stop the caffeine for a week and see if there is any improvement.

Re: Caffeine & Skin Problems

well I am not sure whether caffeine is the culprit, but one thing I know is that sudden withdrawl of caffeine can lead to anxiety state or headache.

Re: Caffeine & Skin Problems

I got off the caffeine. Yes, I was very irritable for several days, but, guess what? After just 5 days being caffeine free, my skin cleared up dramatically!!! I was really amazed! Just goes to prove we need to really look at what we are putting into our bodies. Caffeine may give you more energy and help you stay awake, but it also has side-effects that aren't worth it. I will never take another highly-caffenated drink ever again!!! So, for all of the people who are having skin problems that medicine can't get rid of, take a look at your diet and do some research on how your diet affects your skin. I learned the hard way that sugar and flour also lead to unwanted skin conditions. So, be careful.
