| Poison Ivy
My hubby came in contact with some poison ivy and now has the dreaded rash on both arms. It's been about a week now, and it doesn't seem to be improving much at all. He says it still itches like crazy, even though it appears like they are scabbing over (drying out). He has tried one of the "washes" that supposedly removes the oils from the skin. He says it helps temporarily, and then the itching returns. The last few nights, he's been using calamine lotion to help ease with the itching, but it doesn't seem to be doing much. He's debating whether or not to see his doctor. I don't think there is much that the doctor can do, at this point...other than maybe prescribe a course of prednisone, but perhaps I'm wrong. I always just figured with poison ivy, you just have to let it run its course, and eventually it will clear up. Today however, he has been having really bad allergies...sneezing, runny nose, etc. Could this be some sort of systemic reaction to the poison ivy? And if so, should he see a doctor at this point?
