Red and inflamed patches around my 4 year old daughters mouth
My 4 year old daughter started having what looked like dry patches around her mouth back around Haloween last year. Her pediatrician did just think it was dry patches and told me to use a hydrocortisone cream. I did but it never went away. Then they gave me samples of Aquaphor but that didn't take it away either. We tried Desonide 0.05% which didn't help and Metrogel 1% which made it way worse. Nothing we try is helping her skin.
It's very red and burns when I put anything on it. Even the hydrocortisone cream seems to burn. She's had two strep test to make sure it's not related. The doctors haven't even given me a name for what they think it is. I made an appointment for her with a dermatologist but it isn't until the end of April. I just need some insight as to what she may be dealing with and what to try to help it.
It never itches her and it's only on one side of her mouth but it spreads from her nose to the bottom of her mouth. We've tried triple cream and Cetaphile which should help excema. Nothing is helping and I'm getting frustrated. Any suggestions?
