My 11 year old son has bruise-like discoloration around both of his wrists. But they are not bruises. He says he did not fall down or hurt his wrists. They are not tender to the touch and the skin feels like normal. He was not at my home for the last two weeks and he said it started "about a week ago". What could this be?

I would seriously be considering physical abuse wherever he was staying, even if he is too scared to admit it. You'll know they were actually bruises if they fade out in about another week, going from purple to green to brown, to normal, fading from center outward.

P.S. You should photograph his wrists against a newspaper, showing the date. That way if you need to get a change in custody or a restraining order, you'll have the evidence you need.
