Strange skin infection...I think I was misdiagnosed
For about two weeks now I've been having random breaks in my skin appear on my neck/face. They ooze a clear liquid for about a day, and then they crust over with yellow crumbly scabs. After the scabbing they leave a light pink scar. At first I thought I had possibly cut myself exercising, but then they started to appear very frequently.
I train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (think of wrestling for those unfamiliar with the sport) and I saw a training partner the other day who hadn't been to class in a few weeks due to the exact same time of sores/infection except he not only had it on his neck and face, but all over his arms and legs, it appeared to be much more severe.
This was very alarming so I scheduled a doctors appointment right away. He took one quick look at some of the scars (didn't have any bad open sores during the appointment) and told me it was just a bad acne break out, and gave me a lecture on how to wash my face. He prescribed me an antibiotic in the event that the acne had become infected. I'm 25 years old. I know what acne is. I haven't had any white heads, or ingrown hairs from shaving. Just these little open breaks in my skin (small, circular looking).
I'm very nervous that this could be staph infection. It will be a few days before I find a new doctor and transfer all my medical records.
Any ideas what it could be?
