Dirty Skin

Im embarrassed to say this but my skin is very dirty and dark. It is in VERY bad condition, especially my buttocks. I know this sounds disgusting but im sorry, I need help. When I was little I didnt bathe properly (embarrassed to say). Now I am 15, and I am embarrassed to wear a tank top. Please help someone. I am now bathing properly but the dirt is coming off slowly. My family doesnt have much money. Is there an inexpensive way that I can get rid of this problem fast? I am too embarrassed to tell my mom about this problem. Someone please help, I feel so ashamed.

Re: Dirty Skin

When skin is in this shape, it is because of a build-up of dead skin cells that simple bathing cannot completely remove. You can purchase a pair of 'shower gloves' for less than ten dollars at discount stores. You can also purchase a skin exfollient to use when you bathe. The bath gloves have a rough texture and will help to slough off the dead skin cells using regular bath soap. Be sure not to over-scrub and make your skin sore. Use lotion after you bathe as this will help to soften the skin cells as well. A loofah is good to use, but will harbor bacteria if it is not completely cleansed and dried between uses. I much prefer the bath gloves as one can throw them in the wash. Don't be discouraged. I had 'dirty-looking' elbows and knees when I was young. It didn't bother me until I got older and I nearly scrubbed all my skin off <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif">

Re: Dirty Skin

Don't be embarrassed to tell your mom. She will probably be able to help you. I had a patch of skin on the back of my neck that was discolored and someone told me to put cold cream on in it (very inexpensive) and let it sit on there overnight. I did that for about a week washing the cream off with one of those scrubbers that's like mesh every morning and it finally worked. But again, I would tell your mom.

Re: Dirty Skin

I have a pair of the bath gloves and I love them. They remove a lot, if not all the dirt. I got two other friends hooked on them, I would give them a try along with some type of body wash. But like others said-don't scrub to hard.

Re: Dirty Skin

Where can you get the bath gloves? I went to Walmart the other day looking for them and the people who worked there had no idea what I was talking about...
