sebaceous cyst - removed surgically, holes remininag to heal

sebaceous cyst on buttock

I'd two sebaceous cysts on my right buttock. I had then excised by a general surgeon. However after a week, I noticed puss like matter near the stitches. The surgeon made small holes to the stitched area and injected Hydrogen-peroxide to clean it. Since the area is very elastic and I'd to travel quite a bit sitting on it and there were small holes for cleaning, the stitches came off leaving big holes in the area.

Now the surgeon says that thing will be alright in two weeks, the wounds would heal by themselves, and I'd have to clean with H2O2 & dress them twice a day with gauze.

My question is, would holes as big as 2cm in diameter close by themselves? and that too on my buttocks? I ask this because the area seems to move at the slightest moment in any part of my body.

Any advice would help.

Re: sebaceous cyst - removed surgically, holes remininag to heal

I had a fairly large (golf ball size) cyst removed from my chest over 15 yrs. ago. After he cut the skin over the cyst open -- the cyst simply popped out (or so my husband said). He not only stiched the internal epidermis with over 20 dissolvable stiches, he also stapled the external skin maybe 5 to ten staples -- I tried to count the marks left behind.
If I were you, I would seek another opinion before you're stuck with something much worse then a cyst.

Thank you Amygdala. My surgeon stitched the skin but the stitches came off due to pressure. You see the area where the stitches were, stretches so much any move I make!

No I have open wounds (I should rather say holes) gaping at me. The surgeon says Granulation tissue was developing in that area already and it builds well in about two weeks. But I'm worried how holes of 2cm diameter would heal.

I'd sure look for a second opinion.
