| | benign cyst removal on leg-healing question
I had a benign cyst removed from my thigh in December (actually, part of it was squeezed out in Oct by the dermatologist and the remainder surgically excised in December.) I went back for a follow-up two weeks later. There was bruising/redness around the spot (I had cleaned it and kept it covered with bandaids during the two weeks.)
It's now nearly March and the bruising is still there. It's a dark red. It's much much smaller--maybe 1/2 the size it was (now roughly 1/4 inch in diameter, a little less) and it's around the scar (dermatologist did two layers of stitches.) It doesn't hurt at all, but I'd like the discoloration to go away. I've noticed that it's very very very very slowly getting smaller, but shouldn't the redness be gone already? I asked the dermatologist and she said it might take a full year for it to disappear. Doesn't that seem like a long time?
Does this sound normal?
Thanks for any responses.
