red, dry skin - cheeks, chin, hairline

I had terrible acne as a teen and was placed on medication that cleared it up pretty well. Then when I was 17 (off acne meds by then) I developed red, blotchy areas of dry skin, mainly on my cheeks, chin, and folds on either side of my nose. The condition would come and go, but has persisted to this day. I tried lotions, but they only helped with the dry skin - the redness actually appeared brighter with lotion use. I saw a dermatologist who said to put hydrocortisone cream on the areas. I have done so for years now with little to no avail. Unfortunately, it now seems to be getting worse and is more widespread. I now additionally have the affected areas around my hairline on my forehead and down along my sideburns, as well as in the creases behind my ears. I use selson blue for my dandruff, but I discontinued it's use for quite some time thinking it may have been the culprit - the red, dry skin still came back though so I don't think it was. I absolutely hate my face when it's in this condition. Any ideas on what it is or what I can do to get rid of it? Thank you very much.

(I put up a few pics as well - doesn't do the redness much justice in the lighting, but maybe will give you a better idea)

Re: red, dry skin - cheeks, chin, hairline

I have noticed that I have the same thing. Your pictures are what I'm dealing with also. My hairline is also very dry and flaky down the sideburns. The red patches are itchy and a little painful. I would like to know if you've had any success in treating it yet? My next move is to go to a Dermatologist. Thanks for posting and it's a shame nobody is around to help out on it. Good luck.
