so about 6-8 months ago i got some red scaley skin on my shin. i went and got it checked out. the PA who looked at me guessed it was eczema, but wasnt sure because the infected area was limited to the shin. he prescribed some triamcinolone cream, but it has done nothing to help. in the meantime i was laid off and lost my insurance. so i am pretty broke and since it doesnt make me ill, i avoid going to the doctor.
so i would like some opinions on this. i am guessing that it has to be one of the 2, but i have nothing else like it anywhere on my body, which both seem to have happen. my symptoms are...
1. red skin
2. itches badly, but only periodically throughout the day
3. flaky and scaly
4. i have had infrequent zit like bumps on it, but that is very rare
in the pic it appears more white because i just got done scratching it a ton. this is also why you can see the blood.
any opinions on which this is?

Hmmmmm.... I have psoriasis & granuloma annulare, and it doesn't look like either. I've actually never seen eczema, so I'm not sure.
This is just a wild stab, but there's a possibility it is Candida-related. Do you eat lots of sugar or carbs? Or have you taken antibiotics? Yeast can show up anywhere in the body (not just in females as yeast infections) and cause itching. It's a bugger to get rid of, but perhaps you may want to cut out sugar & simple carbs for a while to see if it helps. Yeast feeds on sugars and multiplies. No sugar, and you starve them. (There are actually more foods to avoid, but if you see an improvement by cutting out sugars, then you know you're on the right track and then can look further into Candida and following a proper anti-Candida diet.)
