About a week and half ago I was working in the yard there may have been some poison ivy not sure. About 9 days later I just started itching all over but nothing was there. One morning I woke up and these small red dots that looked like bug bites were on my leg and itched so bad. I couldn't stand it and went to the doctor and she said it was mosquito bites and she said it is not bed bugs or poison ivy. I don't have bed bugs because my husband sleeps in the same bed and has no symptoms like mine. I have an exterminator that comes every three months. My dog has no flees because he is on a once month treatment and he is very clean. Anyway, these bumps had me itching for 3 days. They are finally disappearing. Today I woke up feeling like I want to itch my arms but nothing is there and I have this bad feeling they will show up the same way tomorrow. I am under alot of stress and wondering if this is due to stress or am a paranoid with itching?
I took off my artificial nails thinking that might be the problem. I have been on the same medication for years. I have seen an allergist in the past and the only thing I am allergic to is cats but I have no cats. I have no immune problems but I saw a liver specialist a year ago was tested for all immunities and have none.
I feel like I am going nuts because I don't know what this is.
It could be stress, heck, you could be itching almost out of habit. (Once the skin gets irritated, it's tough to un-irritate it.)
Have you tried a strong antihistamine for several days? That will knock out most rash-like problems unless you are being continually re-exposed to the source.
Just FYI: Bed bug bites always come in groups of three, because the bug bites 3 times. But, some people are not allergic to their saliva, so they can be bit and never know it.
My boyfriend has the same thing one his upper torso and arms. His dr. said it was flea bites. Our 11 yr old cat never had fleas. I dont have the "rash". He was on benedryl and predisone. He still has the bites and intense itiching! No clue. Best luck to you! Dee088

weirdest thing is when I am talking to friends and not thinking about it I don't itch at all - when I think about all the things I have to do that is stressful I start to itch. I am older now and cannot handle stress at all. I notice if I concentrate on it and then I itch like crazy and then I get paranoid like I have this awful disease so the itching gets real bad. The mind is so powerful that you believe the worse.
Ok so Sunday I didn't itch at all. On Monday I worked outside in the morning but it was hot and I had sunscreen on. I was cutting some more evergreen bushes and trees branches just like I did about 10 days ago. I went swimming and came in ate my dinner and I noticed my other leg was itching. These tiny and big red dots started to appear. They also started to itch. I did not see any bugs bit me outside. Now, my mom told me that she had an allergic reaction to an evergreen bush - she cut some evergreen bushes and got a splinter in her skin which caused her skin to itch and get really red even though she removed the splinter. It lasted for months but she did not break out like me on her legs and arms. Can you have allergic reaction to trees like the sap and it touches your skin and causes a rash? I worked on the yard (cutting evergreen) on the 18th and broke out on 25th. Yesterday worked on the yard and broke out on the other leg 8 hours afterward. Only on the legs and arms
My medicines I have been taking for years and never had a problem with them.
I do have a big problem with tree pollen and had chest congestion for a whole month during the early spring.
I am so scared thinking it my liver because I have fatty liver. My skin is fine - I don't see that it has changed yellow.
These red spots just start to appear and then I itch. VERY WEIRD!!!
Definitely, you can get hives from yard work. Touching sap, or possibly touching a particular weed or vine, could definitely do that.
Heck, I get hives on my face just from being outside during pollen season, I don't even have to touch the actual plants.
If you need to do yard work again, wear long pants, long sleeves, gloves, and proper shoes. As soon as you are done, undress directly into the washing machine without touching the outside of your clothing. Then shower, lukewarm (not too hot) water.

I thought hives were cluster big red bumps (as seen in photo)? Mine are scattered. Can they show up two days or a week later? When do they go away? I feel itchy all over but the legs and arms only show the dots
I couldn't take it and went back to the doctor today - he prescribed me ointment and zantac and referred me to dermatologist if it does not improve. I still itch and thinks it is hives.
This is too weird. now my boyfriend went back to dr for vistril tabs and prementhrin lotion for scabies!!! Of course no one seen anything crawling!!! Its spreading. He is under no stress. What could it be? Nothing helping.
Definitely, the best thing for hives is antihistamine pills. Zyrtec + Zantact together is great for knocking out an allergic reaction. If that's not cutting it, maybe Benadryl at night.
No hot showers, heat brings histamine up into your skin. Wash only in cool water, and try to avoid getting hot and sweaty.
if it doesn't go away soon, hopefully the dermatologist will solve the mystery. But antihistamines can help a lot.

when you have hives, how long did they last? I notice my red spots are fading. When I wake up I still itch just a little but as soon as I take the pills the itching stops. I feel like something is crawling on me or like I have dry skin.

Depends on this situation. If I'm lucky, I take a good strong dose of antihistamines, and the hives are gone in a day, sometimes within an hour, if I catch it fast enough. But if they settle in and cause serious skin irritation, it can last weeks. Still, just keep hitting it with the antihistamines. It'll control the itching, and it should eventually wipe them out.

I did get my nails done with acrylic and after the fourth time getting them done - my hands kept itching. So I took the nails off. My mom said you wouldn't break out all over though just in the nail area. It was right after I got my nails done and then I broke out in the legs.
If you're allergic enough to something, a contact dermatitis in one spot can actually trigger rashes all over the body. It's not common, but it can happen.
So my itchie red spots are slowly disappearing and do not itch anymore. I am still on the medicine and this will be the 8th day on it. I notice I was feeling a little itching here and there but no red spots would appear. Then on the 7th day the itching disappeared. Yesterday, I was under so much stress and I never sat down for one moment and if I did my mind was racing with all the things I had to do. I started to itch two spots on my legs and one bump appeared. I thought oh know! That was it so far. I wonder if I wasn't on the medicine what else would appear. Anyway, I did notice my cuticle swelled up a little when this reaction happened. Thinking that acrylic is in my blood still. I don't have any artificial nails but my cuticles are taking a while to heal. It took a month for my moms to heal. The only other thing I did different yesterday was take fish oil pills.
