Skin Peeling on Hands - Visible After Shower

Over the last 4 months I've been developing this condition with peeling skin on my hands and feet. Most of the time it's barely visible, but immediately after a shower it looks particularly bad:

(Bear in mind that the camera's white balance etc. wasn't properly configured, so it looks a little worse than it actually was)

This never used to happen, and I've not changed my showering habits at all.

This couldn't be a fungus, could it? I've also noticed my skin seems to break/tear particularly easily on my hands and feet. I stubbed my toe really lightly on the edge of a concrete step the other day, and the skin ripped open super easy.

Re: Skin Peeling on Hands - Visible After Shower

I was very curious to see if anyone has answered your post because I have the very same problem and I have tried to google it several times and can not find an answer. If you do please do let me know. Right now I am going through a rough time with my thyroid but as soon as this is taken care of I plan to see a dr about my skin. Good luck to you.

It could be a symptom of hypothyroidism, or a vitamin deficiency. Best to make an appt. with your doctor...janiee

Well I'd had enough of it on my hands, so I just abraded off all the peeling skin and I'm waiting to see if it comes back. I guess you're probably supposed to use pumice for this kind of 'exfoliation', but I just used sandpaper. Then I put some urea moisturiser over the area in case it dried out too much. Initally it was a bit rough (from my possibly overzealous abrading), but after a few days it looks completely normal.

Yeah when it happens to me I actually just scrape it off also. It goes away for a bit but it eventually comes back for me. My feet are always like this though even if I get pedicures on the reg. I will let you know when I see a doc though.
