Unhappy Male / 18 / Hair on Stomach

Hey,

I'm 18 years old and I started growing hair on my stomach (snail trail, although I hate that name) when I was about 16. I stupidly used to shave the hair off as it was embarrassing. Now, however, the hair grows back really dark - but only in the place where I originally shaved it; for about two inches below the belly button. The rest around and below is fine.

I've been using tweezers for the last few months now to pull them out at the root - I assumed this would thin the hair out slightly and also encourage it to grow back lighter. This doesn't seem to be working and I'm starting to get small red marks and scars where I'm tweezering them.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this, and also how I can possible remove the red marks? They'll probably go over time but anything to help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
