morphea

Hi,
I have morphea and was just wondering if anyone else with this condition has any other skin complaints. I get a lot of itchy rashes, possibly allergies, and cant seem to pin it down to anything.
Thanks

Hello, I thought it may help if I told you my story. I am still waiting for an actual diagnosis. The biopsy team are not sure if i have Licon Sclerosis or Morphea as they could be under lying each other. It started a year ago with a dry white patch on my upper back. This then turnt into scabbing because I had a mole underneath which i scratched all the time. Over the last 9 months I have used a series of steriod creams which cleared the scabbing. I went to the hospital today and they have confirmed it is getting smaller slowley. The good news is if its Morphea then there is a chance it will fade over a few years. I dont have this disease anywhere else which is good. Its now like soft scar tissue. I am being referred to receive cosmetic camoflage - basically medical make up to cover it up when I wear vests etc. Obviously I've had quite a journey to get to this stage but if anyone would like to know more then please contact me here. What I dont know though is why I got it. Does any one know how they got it?Hope this helps you compare your condition.

Re: morphea

hi,
The reason you cant find what causes morphea is because there isn't one. Everything I have read on it says the causes are unknown. I think we are just lucky. Beauty isn't everything.

Hi Lauren, thanks for replying. I guess your right and we are special :-). If you dont mind me asking, where do you have it and for how long? How did yours start off looking and how does it now? Is it in one place and is it now a scar like mark? Sorry for all the questions but I dont know anyone else with this that I can talk to and would love to hear your story.
Take care
Neet

Re: morphea

My morphea started on my hip about 14 years ago. I was about 15 when I was diagnosed. I now have it on my legs, back, under one boob, back of my neck and obviously still on my hip. I think mine spread alot more than most. The patch on my hip looks like burns but the bit on my back is like stripes (my tiger stripes). The bits on my legs just looks like really thin skin, its quite veiny. I think its just different for everyone. After a little while it just becomes part of you. Sounds funny but I wouldn't get rid of it. I hope this helps.
Take care. Lauren
