Urgent help needed please, melasma/tanning on upper lip!

Hi everyone,
So I just came back from holiday where I was doing a lot of tanning (sun, not tan booths or anything like that) and I've noticed that the area above my lip has become darker than the rest of my face! I've researched it and apparently it's called melasma. I'm also on the birth control pill so apparently that may have contributed although this has never happened to me before.

I've tried exfoliating to make the tan fade and even a lemon juice and honey paste, although I know these two methods will take time to work. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I really need the quickest possible method to make this go away!!
Thank you in advance
