Cellulitis or rosacea?
Ok, here's my story. For starters, I have rosacea. I have it bad. I've never treated it. Now, backtrack two weeks. I woke up on a Sunday morning. My nose was swollen and very sore. I'd say it was red, but it's been red for a long time. The inflammation is centered in the bulb of the nose area. I was so bad that I was feeling kind of sick. After reading a little on the internet, the prevailing idea pointed to cellulitis. There is no visible point of infection on my nose. It's just red and swollen and painful. I went to urgent care. Doctor gave me 100mg of doxycycline 2x per day. I took it and it helped but never resolved the problem really. After about a day of finishing it, everything came back. I've been taking Silver Biotics (A type of colloidal silver but not the typical stuff, it really has very little silver in it.) It's been helping. I went to a dermatologist today and he says that it's not cellulitis but rather its just a rosacea flare-up. My problem is that the silver biotics has helped and reduced the redness and inflammation somewhat.
Here's my question. Has anyone ever heard of rosacea giving you such inflammation in your nose that the pain is excruciating if untreated? I've never heard of that but the doctor didn't see to hesitate. Now I'm on 50mg of doxy once a day for a month. If 200mg a day wasn't doing it in 10 days, will 50mg do it in 30? It just doesn't make sense to me.
