Peeling Skin Hands and Toes - NO ITCHING!

Okay, I found one other thread on here from 2005 regarding this issue, with no answer... hopefully someone has one today.

About a week ago, I noticed the skin on my thumb was starting to peel. NO ITCHING, NO FLUID, nothing! It would just pucker up and peel. Well it has since spread to all of my fingers, and my palms, and now each big toe is peeling. The "pattern" of how it is peeling is what is strange to me (as there is definately a "pattern".) I went to the doctors last week, and she was just as confused as I was. She gave me a prescription cream for a "fungus", but I don't believe that is what it is, as again, there is NO Itching!!! Also, the tips of my thumbs felt "funny" (I know, not very descriptive) before the peeliing started. There is no pain, it is just a major annoyance, as I am afraid to show my hands in public.

Has anyone out there ever had this happen, or know of someone it happened to? Again, since there is no "itching", I have kind of ruled out Excsema (sp?) or a fungus... And of course, everything else I find online says "Lupus", "Diabetes", or "MS"... (Sometimes I really hate the internet!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am very frustrated and confused! Thanks!

Re: Peeling Skin Hands and Toes - NO ITCHING!

Okay... just received an answer... In case this is happening to anyone else, this seems to be a condition called Keratolysis Exfoliata.

Keratolysis exfoliativa is a common skin condition which most often affects the palms, but can develop on the soles of the feet. Presentation initially consists of the formation of blisters on the palms and/or fingers, which then burst. This leads to scaling and/or peeling, and exposed skin may experience dryness, redness and cracking, though it is rarely accompanied by pain. Exposure to irritants may aggravate the condition. The condition may also recur up to several weeks after healing.

Hope this helps someone as it has been driving me INSANE!!!
