Georgia residents - Advice on Chiggers

My dad is a Georgia native and says these things are Chiggers.
Chiggers - Harvest mite; Red mite
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002309/#adam_001333.disease.treatment

I was trimming the woods back from a fence in Georgia, and I got these things.
I looked it up and it said that there's no treatment, only bandaids like Antihistamines and corticosteroid creams, they go away by themselves, but this happened to my legs before and it took like 3-4 months to go away. Anything that you can think of to speed up the process?
