Possible bacterial infection

For the past 2 years, I've had a brown blotchy area on the left side of my torso. It doesn't itch or anything, the only time I ever notice it's there is when I look at it. I went to the doctor about it once and, after consulting a skin book, she said it was a bacterial infection and prescribed me a creme to rub on it once daily (I forget the name of it). After 2 months of this with no improvement, I thew the creme away and haven't mentioned it to my doctor since. I'm wondering if anyone has or has had the same issue and what you've done to fix it. I'm sorry for the lack of pictures, it's not visible in any pictures I take.

EDIT: It looks similar to a roadrash if that helps in identifying it.

It may be nothing to worry about but personally I get all my skin problems checked by a Dermatologist as you can not be too careful in this matter.
If the cream hasn't worked then I would advice getting it checked by a Dermo,
never mind wether it itches or not, that dosen't happen with all skin problems,

Solofelix.
