Daughter/21, has a rash/HELP! - Skin Problems Message Board

My daughter is going to college and she has a very itchy rash. It started about a year ago and comes and goes, but it is terrible and keeps her awake half the night sometimes. She went to two different doctors about it and they didn't know what it was, but did give her a steroid cream that helped a little.
Her skin looks a little red and bumpy in places, on her back and stomach mostly and it seems to itch most at night, while she is trying to sleep.
The doctors said "maybe stress, maybe hives?" but she is a very easy-going person and this is her third year at school. I appreciate any ideas. Thank you.

Have you tried anti-histamines/ that would be the first thing id try. If they help then the next step is to try and work out what she is allergic too. many hospitals offer a skin ***** test that can determine this. Good luck!

Hello there. On the other reply when a person said to try using anti-histamines, well I take Benedryl right now for allergies. I do have that same problem your daughter has. I have itchy red bumps that started from my legs and would go away. Then few days later, It would come back and start again on the side of my body and sometimes my arms. After I took Benedryl, it did help me have less itchyness all over . Plus I do use regular skin lotion to help soothe my itchy red bumps from feeling warm and hot to a cool feeling. Plus for me, maybe the winter weather is contributing to my itchy feeling so it could just be an allergy i have. So do try taking anti-histamines
