Post ANYBODY HAVE ECZEMA

I was just wondering what other people with eczema use to treat it.

Hydrocortison (spelling?) cream is what I use. Plus I don't use bar soap. I have to use body washes that are non drying and I use lots or lotion right after I shower. I haven't had a problem with my eczema in a long time.

I also use cortisone creams but they can't be used for long since they thin the skin. I have found that since I stop eating or drinking anything with caffeine my problem has practically gone away. There is also a wonderful cream that works wonders and has no perfumey smell. Its call Cetaphil moisturizing cream, not the lotion, the cream that comes in a jar. Use after showering and ever time you wash your hands if thats where the problem is. Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

I use Cetaphil, too. The cream and the waterless cleanser. The cleanser is wonderful...especially in the winter and my eczema flares up and water hurts my skin. The cleanser is very creamy and you just use a soft washcloth to take it off. It leaves a very light moisturizer behind. Also...it's wonderful for taking makeup off and can even be used on baby skin!

For the most part, my eczema has gotten considerably better since my hysterectomy 12 years ago (possibly problems relating to hormones?). What used to be a problem all over, including my face, and had to be treated with prednisone & cortisone shots/cream is now just basically on my feet, fingers, and creases of legs & arms...very tolerable.

Thanks for all your help..I will get some cetaphil and try that, mine is basically just on a few of my fingers and only bothers me when the weather gets cool, but I'm 38 weeks pregnant(haivng a c-section on Friday) and ts bothered me my whole pregnancy instead of getting the usual break from it during the summer, which makes me wonder if its hormone related also. My 3 1/2 year old son has it worse though, he gets it in various spots all over his body and it bothers him. He usually gets it when the weather cools down too, he's just broken out in the last few days. The only thing I have been able to find that helps is the Avon lotion with cocoa butter in it, everything else burns when it goes on. I've tried Aveeno baby wash on him but it doens't seem to do much good. I just feel awful for the little guy because I know how uncomfortable it can be and he's got it alot more places than I do.
