Weird Skin Thing on my Breast - Skin Problems Message Board

About a month ago while getting out of the shower I noticed a red, sort of circle-like place on the left side of my left breast. I wasn't worried and thought for sure it would just disappear. However, after several weeks, it is still there and still just as red. I showed my mom and she said it looked as if it had been a boil, but I haven't felt any soreness at all there. I never even knew it was there until I saw it that day. The skin is kind of broken there and it's just red. I can't explain it any other way. Does anybody have any thoughts at all on what this could be? If you do, please let me know. Thanks so much.

it could just be dermatitis. i had almost that exact same thing and my family doctor said it could be ringworm so had me put lamisil on it for 6 weeks and it didn't help. finally i got a referral to a dermatologist who gave me some kind of cream and gentle soap and it cleared up in a few days.

..since its not gone away and its been a month..i suggest you see a dr..its most likely nothing to worry about..but better safe than sorry

Thanks everybody. I went to see my OB/GYN and she thought it was a superficial thing that resembled a pimple. She had me come back in a week and it hadn't gotten any better so she referred me to a surgeon. My appointment isn't until next Friday, but the darndest thing-it looks like its going away on its own! Thanks for your input!

sounds to me like it could be ringworm. Ringworm is not actually a worm at all but is caused by a fungus. I'm surprised that an OB-GYN didn't recognize it, if it is a fungus though. Is it dry and itchy? Ringworm usually is. Any of the anti-fungual creams , lotion, or sprays will work if it is fungus. Most of them are labeled for athlete's foot and jock itch, the most prominent forms of fungas infections.
