Hi, my name is Tricia. I was wondering if someone here may be able to help me. My son has a round spot on his face about the size of a quarter. It began looking like a insect bite then the next day was quite larger. This all began in February. Well I attempted to self treat with otc cortisone cream. Then the school called me to tell me they suspected he had ringworm and said he could not return to school till he had been seen by a doctor. So anyway I took him in and she did a culture it came up neg for ringworm but informed that it was possible to have a false neg with that test but diagnosed it as nummular eczema anyway. So she prescibed a steroid cream which actually made the condition worse,, inflammation gallore and increased the size quite a bit. So I then decided to try a anti-fugal myself and contacted her to let her know I had done so , she "approved". Well after 3 weeks of using Lotrimin AF I noticed significant lessening but not completely cured. Then I tried Lamisil (sp?) for a week following directions, but still not completely gone. I am frustrated! I am in Germany right now and to see a dermatologist I need a ref and the language barrier is a problem. I have seen one here and she was not to helpful. If anyone could help me out I would be extremely appreciative. Could this be some residual effect of some sorts??? Thanks ......
