Post how long can i use cortisone?

I have these red, dry, itchy patches along side of my nose. They just won't go away, I tried washing with head and shoulders and use jojoba oil with zinc oxide on top. well, cortisone worked before, but I am afraid to take it for a long period of time...i just want these darn patches to go away!!!!

I have heard up to two weeks of consecutive use is OK, but longer than that may cause permanent thinning of the skin and broken capillaries.
