Yeast is generally caused by Candida - it can cause severe itching on and around the groin area. It can also cause a burning sensation on the 'outside' when one urinates because of the irritated, delicate skin.
When candida infects the skin, it can be very hard to get rid of because it loves a moist environment, and we are more 'moist' in that particular area. If the ointment you are using hasn't effected the candida, I would suggest another trip to the dermatologist. If the infection is attacking the skin, yes, it can spread to other parts of the body adn drive you nuts.
Keep the area clean and dry at all times. Wear only white cotton underwear that does not fit tightly against the body. Purchase some Blue Star Powder and use on the area, or some other sort of powder that contains the same type of ingredients found in Blue Star Ointment - you might even try the ointment, but I cannot tell you that it may not irritate the skin further.
Tea Tree Oil is also good, but you need to be very careful with your application in the groin area. If the infection has compromised the skin of the penis, it could burn significantly when applied as it is a natural astringent with antibacterial, anti- fungicidal and antiseptic properties.
