The thing is, I don't have any dry or dead skin anywhere on my feet at all. My whole feet are completely soft and smooth. It just looks like the build up of grime over the years, but it just WOULD NOT come off! It's on the top-side of the feet and not anywhere near the bottom.

I have tried using a rough hand towel, which I rubbed until I actually bled, but I still could not get it off. I also tried a toothbrush, but that didn't work either.

I am now in the process of using the pumice stone, which is very rough on the underside but smooth on the rounded part.

Another thing I am puzzled about is why is it that I have posted a reply to you TWICE and this thread jumped to the top of the board both times and the number of replies increased by one each time, BUT neither of the two posts are in the thread????? Where on Earth have they gone?

Anyway, one does not necessarily have to 'see' dead skin cells for them to group together. Sometimes, they group together due to a skin infection of some kind, and in the case of the feet, it can be either fungus, or a yeast (candida) infection that has manifested itself in this manner. Have you seen a dermatologist? You certainly might want to. The area may benefit from a topical steroid ointment/cream, or it may respond to a simple antibiotic ointment. It could also be some sort of allergic or contact dermatitis.

I'll try to go to the doctor with this and have him refer me to a dermatologist.
