i've suspected that my fiance has had this the past two years... and he was tested and DOES have it. it's usually characterized by very loud, unnatural snoring. i noticed he's stop breathing during his sleep sometimes up to 20 seconds at a time. don't worry, as your body's defense mechanism will not let you suffocate - after so long, this kicks in and causes you to breathe again, usually with a snort and wakes you up. jay had a sleep test done and they found that he does, indead, have sleep apnea and has been given a CPAP (breathing mask) to wear when he sleeps - this was 100% covered by our health insurance. like the previous post said, it is very important that you get this checked out, as each time you stop breathing, it is hard on your heart and can put you an at earlier risk for heart problems.
