| Re: Unusual CPAP problem
I also use a CPAP. They put me on it for the first time at the sleep study. When I woke up, I was a total wreck. I was so out of it and so tired, I couldn't believe they'd let me drive home like that. It took a while (some say a month) to get used to it and you have lots of sleep to catch up on. Give it a while longer, or talk to your doctor.
Elise, a CPAP is a continuous positive airway pressure machine... it keeps the airways open so the body doesn't get oxygen deprived. People with sleep apnea frequently wake up because their passages get obstructed and breathing stops and they become oxygen deprived. This triggers something or other to bring us back to a higher level of consciousness (or actual waking) to trigger breathing to continue. Something like that. Dealing with pretty major brain fog right now, so I might not have the particulars correct.
