2 nights ago was like any other night. My husband was out watching the hockey game with friends, and I was too tired to wait up for him. I put our 4 month old baby girl to sleep in her crib, and went to bed.

At about 1:30 am I heard her scream on the baby monitor. Terrified I jumped out of bed and ran to her room (she rarely cries and if she does its like a wimper). There I found her lying under the crib and my husband standing next to it. He was trying to move the crib, but it was up against a dresser and there was no way to move it. I picked our baby up off the floor, confused and scared, I screammed at him asking why the baby was on the floor, and what happened? He turn and looked in my direction with a kind of confused but blank expression on his face, then turned back and continued to try to move the crib. He was saying something like he thought she would be more comfortable out there, and nothing else he was saying I could make out.

It was then that I realized that he was sleepwalking. He had done it about a week before, getting out of bed to let the cat out. (Our cat is an indoor cat by his own choice and would never want to go outside) That time when I tryed to stop him he had started cursing at me, and was getting very angry. So this time I quietly told him to go to bed, and he did listen. As soon as he hit the sheets I woke him up. He remembered nothing. And was really upset and confused.

We checked over the baby and saw a bump starting to swell on her head. Not knowing what had happened, we packed her up and took her to the hospital. There we learned she had a fractured skull and a CaT scan revealed that there was no injury to her brain, though they kept us ther for 24 hours just in case,but they said she would be fine.

He has never sleptwalked before these 2 incidents in the 3 1/2 years we have lived together. Although his mother told us he did as a child.

I am terrified to sleep now and not watch him, and he is terrified to go to sleep. We are so very lucky that our little angel is going to be ok. He is heartbroken that he hurt his little princess, and we really dont know why this is happening all of a sudden. If anyone has any suggestions on how to stop this from happening again it would be greatly appretiated. He now sleeps between me and a wall so he would have to climb over me to get up, but is there anyway of stopping the sleepwalking????? My Dr. doesnt seem overly concerned about it hapening again if he has to go though me to get up, but I am soo worried. If there is a next time we might not be so lucky.

Plz anyone who has dealt with sleepwalkers plz help us. I know very little about it and have never seen it before now.
