Hi,
I've been having a really hard time getting to sleep for as long as I remember. I'm 16 now, 17 on July 2, but I remember all of my years after 5th grade (so I was like age 10 until present) not sleeping well, except for the ages of 13-16 when I suffered from migraines and all I could do was sleep. The migraines have now been under control for about 5 months due to going on depo. Anyways, I really don't know what to do about not being to get to sleep. Like I get tired during the day, and sometimes I take a nap, and won't be able to get to sleep until 2 or 3 am, and then if I don't take a nap I can't get to sleep until then either, so I'm really at a loss. Because I don't want to end up napping and screwing up my sleep schedule even more than it is now, but I NEED to rest. I'm still in the process of finishing my junior year due to me going on homebound schooling in December, because of the migraines, and then it took until april/may for my school to get all of my classes set up. However, it's not really adding any stress since I'm pretty used to being on homebound schooling since I had been on it the 2 years before that too. And I haven't noticed that when I'm stressed that I sleep worse, I can actually get to sleep sooner when I'm really stressed. I really don't want to take sleeping pills (which i have thought about) because I know that they won't give me a restful sleep, which is what I'm looking for. I've tried warm milk, and it doesn't help, the liquid actually makes it worse because I have GERD due because my sphincter muscle doesn't tighten back up like it should, according to my GI doc. So liquids are kinda bad. I have also tried that bed time tea stuff, which doesn't help. Music keeps me awake because my brain kinda keeps going with the rythm of the music all night. The TV helps, not sure why though. I don't exercise at all before going to bed. I try not to eat within an hour or so before going to bed. So I really don't know what to do! Any ideas?
I guess I should also mention that we are trying to get a sleeping test thing, but it's still going through all of the processes with insurance and everything. My parents wanted to get it done because sometime after i get to sleep, I have no idea when in my sleep, but my mom says that my left side twitches. Like my fingers, arm, leg, foot...other people have also experienced it happeng to me too.
And my doc wanted to get it checked out.
So in the meantime...I'm really looking for a way to get to sleep when i want to. Any ideas???

Thanks
