| UPPP Surgery or CPAP
I would like to know which route to go in order to relieve my severe sleep apnea which was diagnosed through the sleep study I had in October 2004. It was a relief to know there was a reason for why I have been so tired for the past ten plus years - and it is just getting worse each year.
After experiencing the CPAP during the sleep study, I am not too eager to have that be such a large part of my life. My reasons are because I have a problem having wind blow in my face (I am very uncomfortable with that feeling! - whether it is the air conditioner or my husband breathing on me at night), needing a full mask vs the nose mask, not be able to hear my young children at night because of the noise, scaring my children, having this attached with me for many years (I am still quite young) and lugging it where ever we may travel.
The idea of surgery is also a dilemna. The few comments I have read are not that encouraging but maybe the success stories are not always shared. I wonder if I should bear the pain for a relatively short period of time and hopefully be done with my sleep apnea problem - and learn to adjust to the changes in swallowing or go with the CPAP?
I am also trying very hard to loose weight so that whichever route I choose, my treatment will be a success.
Please share your surgery experiences with me.
